What Oscoda County Court Dockets Show

The Register of Actions is the formal docket in Michigan courts. It tracks every step in a case. Each entry is dated and explains what happened at that point in the proceedings. The docket shows initial filings, motions, hearings, orders, judgments, and any post-judgment activity. Reading a docket gives you the case history without reading every document.

In Oscoda County, the 23rd Circuit Court dockets cover felony criminal cases, civil matters over $25,000, and all family law proceedings. The district court at the Mio courthouse handles misdemeanor and traffic cases. District court records are a separate docket from circuit court records. Both are public under Michigan court rules, except for the categories protected by statute.

Restricted records include PPO cases (MCR 3.705), juvenile cases (MCL 600.1750), HYTA cases, and first-time drug cases under MCL 333.7411. Sealed cases are also excluded from public access. These are statewide rules that apply to Oscoda County as they do everywhere in Michigan. If you cannot find a case online, it may be in a restricted category or it may predate online coverage.

Personal identifying information is redacted from public copies under MCR 8.119(H)(5). Social Security numbers, financial account information, and similar protected data should not appear in documents provided to the public.
